ORANGE, Calif. — Clarissa Perez and Kristi Sakamoto each scored 15 points, the Leopards finished with 11 three-pointers, but the University of La Verne women's basketball team fell on the road to Chapman 99-72.
Sakamoto was hot from the outside, knocking down five three-pointers, four of them in the third quarter. Perez did most of her damage at the line, scoring eight of nine free throw attempts. The junior also grabbed six rebounds.
Bailey Kurahashi also finished in double figures, scoring 11 points with three three-pointers.
Alena Koay grabbed a game-high nine rebounds to go with four assists. Nyjeeiah Ganan added six points, five rebounds, and five assists.
Jessica Hanashiro finished with eight points and four rebounds.
The Leopards outrebounded Chapman 47-39. Turnovers hurt La Verne as the Leopards gave up the ball 34 times, leading to 43 points for the Panthers.
Chapman was led by Brittany McPherson's 23 points.
