Griffin, Prevedello, Rubio Win at SCIAC No. 1

CLAREMONT, CA — The Jade Griffin, Elizabeth Prevedello, and Kayla Rubio each took first and the University of La Verne women's track and field team opened SCIAC competition in impressive fashion.

Griffin took first in the 100m dash with a personal best time of 12.14. Her time ranks fourth all-time in La Verne history and currently places her first nationally.

Prevedello won the high jump with a height of 5-1, placing her sixth on the NCAA DIII outdoor list. The senior also took third in the 100m hurdles clocking in at 15.34. Vera Juncaj took third in the high jump with a height of 4-11.

Rubio was outstanding in her season debut, winning the shot put with a distance of 34-6.75 putting her 21st in the nation. 

The 4x100m relay team of Jazzlyn Johnson, Prevedello, Emily Heldenbrand, and Juncaj took third with a time of 50.65, ranking them 10th nationally. 

In the 4x400m relay, Griffin, Johnson, Kaitlin Handler, and Prevedello finished third with a time of 4:09.30, the sixth-best time in DIII.

Next Race 

The Leopards are back in action on Thursday, March 19 at the Adams-Klein Combined Events meet at Westmont.
