Four Leopards finish with double-digit kills at Chapaman

ORANGE, Calif. — Four Leopards finished with double-digit kills, but the University of La Verne volleyball team fell in five sets to the Chapman Panthers, 3-2.

Set Scores: 25-20, 22-25, 14-25, 25-20, 15-19

Season Impact: The Leopards move to 16-7 overall and 9-4 in the SCIAC. La Verne remains in second place in the conference with three games left in the regular season. Chapman now sits at 13-10 overall and 7-6 in the SCIAC.

Marisa Rojo finished with a team-high 15 kills to go with three service aces. Freshman Emma Estigoy added 12 kills, the most in her young career. 

Katelyn Winiecki and Kelsie Sievers each added 10 kills. Sievers led the Leopards with six blocks and Winiecki added four.

After dropping the first set, the Leopards battled back to win a close second set and dominated the third frame. 

Chapman came back in the fourth to force the deciding set. The Panthers took a 10-4 lead in the final set and the Leopards couldn't recover.

Kristen Sanchez finished with 19 digs. Madison Maynes totaled 30 assists with Natalie Barragan adding 18 assists of her own.

Next Game: The Leopards host Pomona-Pitzer on Tuesday, October 24 at 7 p.m.
