LOS ANGELES — Pi'ikea Clemens finished with a game-high 13 kills, Madison Maynes led all players with 25 assists, and the University of La Verne volleyball team opened SCIAC play in dominating fashion, sweeping the Occidental College Tigers Friday night in Rush Gymnasium.
Season Impact
The Leopards keep on rolling. Fresh off a perfect 3-0 showing at the Leopard Invitational, La Verne improves its winning streak to four games. La Verne moves to 7-5 overall and 1-0 in SCIAC play.
Occidental falls to 2-10 overall and 0-1 in conference action.
Stat Leaders
Clemens hit .250 on the way to her 13 kills. The junior added nine digs and one block. Maynes finished with a team-high four aces to go with three digs and a kill.
Darrah Jones had a solid all-around game for the Leopards finishing with nine digs, five kills, and one assist. Haley Celaya added nine kills and two digs. Jones and Celaya each added a pair of aces.
Ayana Mier had effective night offensively, totaling seven kills on .278 hitting. Emma Estigoy led all players with 17 digs. Emily Heldenbrand finished with six digs.
Next Game
The Leopards play their SCIAC home opener tomorrow night against Redlands at 4 p.m.
