LA VERNESarah Jefferis scored four goals, two other Leopards notched hat tricks and the University of La Verne women's water polo teams won its second game in a row, beating Macalester (Minn.), 13-6, on Saturday at the La Verne Aquatic Center.

The Leopards used strong first and third quarters to pull away from the Scots.

Justine Mojarro got the Leopards on the board 36 seconds into the game and assisted on two other goals in the quarter to give La Verne a 5-2 lead after the first. Quiroz and Jefferis were on the receiving end of Mojarro's passes and Lora Marquez-Salgado also added one.

Macalester outscored La Verne 2-1 in the second quarter, but the Leopards stormed out of the halftime break to pour in six goals in the third quarter to give themselves a cushion. Megan Little opened the second half scoring with a point-blank shot from a long stretch pass by Jefferis. Little added one more later in the quarter and Jefferis scored one herself on a fast break. Marquez-Salgado added two and Catie Tuning put one in from the point to get out to a 12-5 lead.

The Leopards limited the Scots to just two goals in the second half.

Marquez-Salgado and Little each registered a hat trick.

Quiroz, Tuning and Mojarro contributed one goal each.

Jacqueline Rojas had 10 saves in the net, her third double-digit effort of the season.

La Verne gets right back in action tomorrow. The Leopards travel to Redlands to take on Cal State East Bay at 1 p.m. and Cal State San Bernardino at 4 p.m.
