The SCIAC is celebrating NCAA Officials' Appreciation Week along with all other Division III conferences. This is a nationwide initiative to recognize and thank conference officials across all sports.
Officials' Appreciation Week will be celebrated during the 2022-23 winter and spring sport seasons. The winter appreciation week will take place at home events of each SCIAC institution from January 23 to January 29.
The commitment of SCIAC officials and referees to safe, fair and competitive contests is a critical part of the student-athlete experience.
"We have tremendous appreciation for the effort and care our officials put into managing our contests across all 21 sports," Executive Director Jenn Dubow said. "Officials have a tough and often thankless job, but one on which we all rely. We should remind ourselves more often to express our thanks."
Officials' Appreciation Week is one of several initiatives that are being implemented as part of the Division III Commissioners Association (DIIICA) Strategic Plan for Collegiate Officiating that was created as a result of the DIIICA's Strategic Analysis of the State of Collegiate Officiating. DIII Officials' Appreciation Week is being held in conjunction with Division II conferences across the country. The effort is designed to recognize officials for the important role they play in competition across all sports.
The spring 2023 Officials' Appreciation Week will be celebrated the week of April 3 to April 9.
