Across The Nation - The University of La Verne track and field team hit the ground running at a pair of invitationals across the United States of America this weekend. The performances of the Leos yielded several personal records and several school records,
The David Hemre Valentine Invitational saw many Leopards put up great numbers. Nicolas Saenz set a personal record in the mile run. Zyeir Shabete set personal records in both the 800 and the mile runs.
Leopard TK Berhe set a new personal record in the 500m while also setting a new ULV school record for that event.
Michael Sahagun finished the Valentine Invitational with a strong performance in the 5k.
The Whitworth Invitational had many personal records set (9) in the event as well as many school records that were set in the event.
Tyler Thomas set two personal records in the 60m and the 200m, as those performances put him at #4 and #2 on the ULV all-time lists. Hunter Bond (indoor 400m), Dante Carter (200m), Joshua Collier (60m Hurdles), Ivan Estrada (400m #8 ULV top 10), Brandon Pedroza (Weight Throw), Zachary Reid (200m) all set personal records and Ivan Estrada, Tyler Thomas, Jayden Figueroa, Joshua Collier (4x400m) became #5 all-time in the ULV ULV Indoor mark for the event.
The performances from the Leopards will provide a foundation for success as the outdoor season approaches.
