Leopards Run To New Records At NAU Ron Mann Classic

Flagstaff, AZ - The University of La Verne track and field team opened the month of February in Flagstaff, Arizona, as they participated in the NAU Ron Mann Classic at Northern Arizona University.
Continuous preparation through the offseason, the fall, and early winter prepared the Leopards for a productive open to the 2023 season.
Brief in context, the indoor season allows the Leopards to fine-tune for their entire 2023 campaign.

Both the men's and women's teams had a successful day with a total of 21 personal records being set during the indoor meet. The Lady Leopards were led by personal records being set by
Tori Medrano (400m), Kelly Sanchez (60m and 200m), Devin Spreeman (60m) and Peyton Carerra (400m). This was the first time for many of the Lady Leopards to compete on an indoor track.
The men's team had 16 individuals setting personal records, with 7 of them being indoor personal records while the other 9 were overall personal records. The following Leopards set personal records on the men's side:

Hunter Bond: Indoor 200m and Long Jump


Dante Carter : Indoor 60m and 200m


Valencio Coco: Indoor 800m and 1 mile


Joshua Collier: Personal Record 60mHH


Kenny Davis: Personal Record Triple Jump


Isiah Dodson: Personal Record 60m and 200m


Ivan Estrada : Personal Record 60m


Jayden Figueroa: Indoor Personal Record 400m


Brandon Pedroza: Personal Record Shot Put


Nicolas Saenz: Indoor Personal Record 800m and an Indoor top 5 ULVTF All Time performance.


Tyler Thomas: Personal Record 60m and 200m


4x400 of Ivan Estrada-Joshua Collier-Hunter Bond-Jayden Figueroa won their heat in the meet concluding event.


Next week will see the Leopards will have squads competing in Spokane, Washington at The Podium at the Whitworth Invitational and in Boston, Massachusetts at the BU Valentine Invitational.
Next week a split squad will compete in Spokane, WA at The Podium at the Whitworth Invitational (speed and power events) and in Boston, MA at the BU Valentine Invitational (endurance events).
