Gonzalez tabbed All-West Region

KANSAS CITY — Forward Nathan Gonzalez of the University of La Verne men's soccer team was named Third Team All-West Region by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) in a vote by the region's head coaches.

Gonzalez was also named to First Team All-SCIAC.

"I'm very proud of Nate and to have one of my athletes named All-Region in my first year as a head coach is an honor," La Verne head coach Trevor Persson said. "He worked hard all season and I'm delighted that he's been recognized by the coaches in the region."

The sophomore has been the most dangerous threat for La Verne the past two seasons and emerged as one of the best forwards in the SCIAC. He finished the year with 12 goals, five of them being game-winners. His speed and ball control not only got himself in scoring situations, but it also created chances for his teammates. He dished out five assists for a total of 29 attacking points.

La Verne finished the year 11-8-1 (8-8-0 SCIAC) and narrowly missed the SCIAC Postseason Tournament under first-year coach Persson.
