Men's Soccer cruises past Caltech at home

LA VERNE, Calif. — Javier Jasso gave the Leopards the early lead and the University of La Verne men's soccer team never looked back, beating the Caltech Beavers 3-0 at home Saturday evening.

Season Impact: The Leopards improve to 6-5-2 overall and 3-5-2 in SCIAC play. Caltech falls to 1-13 overall and 0-10 in the conference.

La Verne didn't take long to get on the board. In the seventh minute, Andrew Maldonado found Jasso open who put the Leopards up front.

The Leopards kept the pressure on the rest of the period, taking 12 shots but couldn't add another goal before the break.

But La Verne kept firing in the second half and it paid off early. On the Leopards' first shot of the half, Christopher Wong found the back of the net off an assist by Luis Hernandez to give La Verne the insurance goal.

The Leopards never gave Caltech a chance to recover, bombarding the Beavers with 18 shots in the half.

Auden Foxe found Carlos Chavez in the 65th minute to put La Verne up 3-0.

Josh Ramirez finished the game with five saves.

Caltech's Joe Como totaled 10 saves.

Next Game: The Leopards take a break from SCIAC play when they face Ottawa (Ariz.) this Monday at 7 p.m.
