LA VERNE, Calif. — Johnny DeRueda and Anton Russell both earned Second Team All-SCIAC honors, the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference announced Tuesday.
DeRueda ranked second in the SCIAC with eight goals this season including six in conference games. The freshman from Rialto also ranked fourth in points with 18. DeRueda scored three game-winners in his first season with the Leopards.
Russell led La Verne's defense all season and contributed to six Leopard shutouts. This is the third year in a row Russell earns All-SCIAC accolades. The senior was named to the first team last season and second team in 2015.
The University of La Verne men's soccer team finished their 2017 campaign with an 8-8-2 overall record and a 5-7-2 finish in the SCIAC.
