Okimura Wins 50 Breaststroke In Leopard Debut At Malibu Invitational

Freshman Marc Okimura enjoyed an impressive debut for the University of La Verne men's swimming and diving team by winning the men's 50 yard breaststroke at the Malibu Invitational on Saturday.

A freshman from Honolulu, Okimura finished first overall with a time of 27.33 in the 50 breast in a field that included athletes from Division I, II, III and NAIA institutions.

Okimura also finished second overall in the 100 breaststroke, clocking in at 59.94 behind Concordia's Lucas Spencer (59.10).  He also placed seventh in the 200 breaststroke with a time of 2:15.64.

In other action, the Leopards finished 3-4-5 in the men's 1-meter diving competition with Adam Gray placing third (208.65) followed by Jake Tittl (184.35) and Daniel Sillas (117.95).
