Six Leopards Compete At Premier Invitationals

WALNUT/AZUSA, CA - Six Leos competed Friday at two of the top track & field invitationals in both Southern California and the United States.

TK Berhe raced the 10,000 meters at the Bryan Clay Invitational this morning at Azusa Pacific University.  Competing against a field of Division I, II and III athletes, Berhe was aggressively trying to improve his school record.  He ended up just seconds off his personal best with a time of 30:08.00.  Later in the afternoon, Nicolas Saenz and Zyeir Lasley-Shabete competed in the 800 meters.  Saenz ran 1:56.36 and Lasley-Shabete ran 1:59.46.  The pair were also just off their personal bests.

Three Leopard sprinter/hurdlers competed at the Mt. SAC Relays in Walnut later in the day.  Zachary Reid ran 14.90 in the 110m High Hurdles.  Joshua Collier raced the 400m Intermediate hurdles in 55.19.  Tyler Thomas finished the 200 meters in 21.92.  All three finished just off their season bests.

The entire La Verne track & field team will be back in action tomorrow at SCIAC Multi-Dual #3.  They will compete against Caltech, CMS and Whittier.  The competition begins at 10 AM in Claremont on the CMS track.
