REDLANDS, CA - The Leopards had a small contingent compete at the Redlands Last Chance Qualifier on Thursday afternoon, but turned in outstanding results. Tyler Thomas broke an eight year old school record in the 100 meters with a time of 10.56. His time is tied for 10th best in SCIAC history. He also doubled back in the 200 meters and recorded a personal best of 21.46. His 200 time is #5 in La Verne history. Zachary Reid ran a season best in the 110 meter high hurdles while winning his race with a time of 14.49. Only five athletes (including himself) have run faster in SCIAC history. Joshua Collier ran a competitive time of 53.77 in the 400 meter intermediate hurdles.
"It was a great day at the track for Leopard Track & Field," stated Head Track & Field Coach Kevin Reid, "especially with the pressure of a Last Chance Meet."
Thursday was the last day for Division III athletes nationwide to qualify for next week's NCAA Division III Track & Field Championships. The top 22 athletes declared tomorrow in each individual event will participate in the meet.
