The University of La Verne volleyball team was hoping for a Mile High conclusion to the final day of action at the Pikes Peak Challenge in Colorado Springs, CO.
Instead, the Leopards experienced a Rocky Mountain low with consecutive losses to Carleton College and Illinois Wesleyan University on Saturday to finish the tournament with a 1-3 record.
The Leos fell to Carleton 3-2 by scores of 25-23, 17-25, 16-25, 25-23 and 15-10. Illinois Wesleyan topped La Verne 25-23, 25-17 and 25-20.
Against Carleton, the Leopards hit .212 and held their opponent to a .188 hitting percentage. Randi Toomay totaled 18 kills while Kayla Cribbs contributed 10. Catie Logan and Kendall Kraiss finished with 9 and 8 kills apiece. Toomay tallied 9 kills against IWU with Logan adding 8 in the defeat.
Kraiss was the Leopards' lone representative on the All-Tournament Team.
La Verne is back in action next weekend (Sept. 10-11) with four matches at the Cal-Lu-Fornia Invitational in Thousand Oaks.
