Leopards Open The Aggie Invite With Two Matches

Davis, CA - The University of La Verne women's water polo team traveled to Davis, California to participate in the Aggie Invite at UC Davis. 

The Leopards played two games in today's action, opening versus California Baptist and closing the day against California State East Bay.

Opening the day against California Baptist, the Leopards engaged in a close battle early with the Lancers. Leopard JAssmine Kezman scored the Leopards first goal of the game at the start of the first quarter, putting the Leopards on the board first. Kezman would score the Leopards second goal of the game as the first quarter ended, closing the deficit to 5-2. The Leopards would score 5 goals in the second quarter but would trail at halftime by a score of 13-7. The Leopards would score 6 goals in second-half action but would fall to CBU by a final score of 25-13. Nancy TrinhNanea Mattson, and  Jassmine Kezman each scored 3 goals in the match for the Leopards.

The Leopards took on the Pioneers from Cal State East Bay in the second match of the day. La Verne would lead Cal State East Bay after the first quarter 2-1. Giving up 4 goals in the second quarter, La Verne would enter halftime trailing 6-4. The Leopards would score 7 goals in the second half but would give up nine, falling by a final score of 14-11. Nancy Trinh and Jassmine Kezman each led La Verne with 3 goals in the match. Kate Carlyle had 9 saves in the game for the Leopards.

La Verne would take on Cal State Monterey Bay and Pacific tomorrow in two matches at the Aggie Invite.
