Leopards And Athenas Clash In Double OT Thriller

La Verne, CA - The University of La Verne women's water polo team opened up conference play against 2nd-ranked Claremont Mudd Scripps College.

The Leopards got off to a slow start but set the tone in the second quarter for dual and consistent lead changes. Each team could not seem to break away from the lead. The Leopards held the Athenas to a scoreless 4th quarter, forcing the game into overtime. The game would not end after two overtimes, as more time was needed to determine the winner. Jassmine Kezman would lead the Leopards in scores with six goals; one goal was in overtime to force a second OT. Nancy Trinh would also be essential for the Leopards as she put three goals past the net and had the goal to tie the game, sending the game to sudden death. Both Jassmine and Nancy would have two assists for La Verne. Kate Carlyle was a force defensively, having ten saves in the game and a whopping .476 save percentage.
