Jassmine Kezman Scores A Career High 8 Goals In Victory Over Westcliff; Leopards Sweep Weekend Games

Southern California - The University of La Verne women's water polo team played in back-to-back contest against Westcliff and Chapman University.

Traveling on the road for both contests, the Leopards were victorious in both games, defeating Westcliff 14-12 and Chapman University 11-10.

On Friday the Leopards traveled to Irvine, California for a match against Westcliff University. The Leopards opened the game trailing Westlciff after the first quarter by a score of 4-2. The Leopards would go on a tear in the second quarter, as three different Leopards scored five goals in the quarter, to tie the game 7-7 at halftime. The third quarter would see the onslaught of Jassmine Kezman, as she would score three of her eight goals in the contest to keep the Leopards even with Westcliff after three periods with the score tied at 11-11.

Kezman would score two more goals in the fourth quarter of play to add to her total, as a power play by Abby Nunez would secure the road victory for the Leopards by a final score of 14-12. Six different Leopards would score in the victory. Jassmine Kezman would score a career-high 8 goals in the Leopards' victory, a career individual record for her during her career as a Leopard. Renee Lopez would add two goals in the Leopards' victory.

The Leopards traveled to Orange, California for a SCIAC matchup against Chapman University. The Leopards looked to continue the winning streak from the victory over Westcliff. The Leopards opened the game carrying momentum from the previous victory by scoring four goals in the opening quarter to lead 4-2 after the opening period. Three different Leopards would scores goals in the second quarter as La Verne would enter halftime leading 7-4.

A scoreless third period would allow Chapman to get back into the contest, taking a 9-7 lead. The Leopards would rally back in the fourth quarter as Nancy Trinh would score two of the Leopards' four goals to get the conference road victory 11-10 over the Panthers.

Nancy Trinh and Brianna Zapata would each score 3 goals in the win. Kate Carlyle had 5 saves for the Leopards. 

La Verne is back in action March 29th at home against Occidental.
