La Verne, CA - The University of La Verne Leopards defeated the Occidental Tigers with a final score of 16-5 in their sixth conference game of the season, which took place this afternoon at Las Flores Park.

The match started with a burst of energy, as the Leopards quickly got on the scoreboard with a goal from the Senior standout, Kelly Riedel. The Tigers did their best to keep up, but were stopped at every turn by the Leopards' defense, led by Nancy Trinh, who performed admirably on both ends of the pool.

As the game progressed, it was clear that the Leopards were the stronger team, with Brianna Zapata holding down the waters and winning all three of her sprints for the game. The Tigers were repeatedly challenged by the shot clock, which made it difficult for them to make a comeback.

The Leopards continued to put pressure on the Tigers, and by halftime, they had built up an 8-2 lead. The Tigers fought in the second half, but they were no match for the Leopards, who continued to dominate with goals from Trinh, Riedel, and Jassmine Kezman, who put up an all-time high in goals last week and added three more today.

As the game entered its final minutes, Amelia Wolfe found the back of the net with six minutes left in the game, helping name the final score as 16-5 in favor of the Leopards.

The Leopards will look to continue this weekend to take on the Caltech Beavers this coming Saturday at 11 AM, once again at Las Flores Park. With their eyes set on gaining their first conference win lead, the Leopards are sure to put up another strong matchup.
