The University of La Verne baseball team completed a weekend sweep over the California Institute of Technology with wins of 10-0 and 18-2 over the Beavers Satruday at Ben Hines Field.

In the opener, La Verne notched six runs in the first inning to earn the shutout win.  The Leos added a run in the fourth, sixth, seventh and eighth innings. 

Jason Moralez collected three hits in the contest while five other Leopard players tallied two hits.  Overall the Leos totaled 17 hits in the game.

Matt Baudino pitched seven innings in the shutout to earn his fifth win of the season.  Baudino yielded two hits while striking out 12 batters.

In the second game, the Leopards tallied 19 hits including six home runs. Victor Peinado homered twice while Jon-Michael Hattabaugh, Sergio Munoz, Cody Hazel and Zach Canfield also homered.  Hattabaugh and Munoz along with David Contreras tripled in the contest.  Peinado and Hazel each collected three hits in the game.

Tim Jolly recorded his third win of the season allowing two runs in five innings of work. 

The Leopards improve to 16-13 on the season and 10-8 in conference play.
