Leopards Take On Cal Lutheran On The Road

The University of La Verne baseball team traveled to Thousand Oaks, California today to do battle with Cal Lutheran. Two of the top teams in the SCIAC, the match-up proved to be a great early test for both teams. The Leopards started the game off with Tanner Siffert singling up the middle which led to Brandon Shiota tripling to right-center field. Shiota's triple led to Tanner scoring and putting the Leopards on the board, giving them a 1-0 lead after one inning. Anthony Salcedo would score in the third inning off of an RBI by Logan Reese, giving the Leopards a 2-1 lead after three innings of play. Cal Lutheran would score three runs in the fourth inning, giving them a 4-2 lead as the fifth inning of play began. La Verne would score two runs in the fifth inning but would not get on the board again, as they would lose a close game to Cal Lutheran by a final score of 5-4. Bennett Vogel had two strikes on the day while Jaylon Fong added one strikeout for the Leopards. Brandon Shiota led the Leopards with three hits on the day while also adding two RBIs. The loss moved the Leopards' record to 10-2-2.

La Verne will return Friday, March 18th at Claremont-M-S.
