Orange, CA: The University of La Verne Leopards dropped both games of a doubleheader to the Chapman Panthers, finishing second in SCIAC.
Game One
La Verne grabbed an early 1-0 lead in the first inning when Tanner Siffert grounded into a double-play, allowing Anthony Salcedo to score. Starting pitcher Gerry Terry, pitched five scoreless innings to start the game but allowed four runs in the 6th inning. With a 4-1 lead the Panthers added a run in the 7th inning and five runs in the 8th inning to take a commanding 10-1 lead. La Verne was able to score a run in the 9th inning on a fielder's choice that brought home Anthony Salcedo. Ultimately, the Leopards bats could not muster enough offense against Panthers pitching, scoring two runs on 4 hits. The Leopards dropped the first game of the doubleheader 10-2.
Game Two
The Leopards were able to squeak out an early 1-0 lead against the Panthers, early in the 2nd inning. Cameron Slessor drove in Manuel Munoz on a base hit in right-center field. The Panthers offense could not be stopped as they scored runs in five of the eight offensive innings they batted. Chapman evened the score immediately in the bottom of the 2nd inning and then took a 2-1 lead in the 3rd inning. The Panthers added two runs in the 5th and 6th inning and three runs in the 8th inning and won by a score of 9-1. The Leopards fared a bit better offensively in game two but struggled to get a big hit and drive in runs. La Verne finished with one run on 11 hits.

The University of La Verne Leopards will prepare for a chance to win a SCIAC Postseason Title, as they enter the SCIAC Postseason Tournament as the number two seed finishing with an impressive 17-7 record in conference and 29-10-1 overall record.
