Men's Basketball Uses Hot Three-Point Shooting to Beat Chapman

ORANGE, CA — Tevin McClain knocked down four three-pointers, Sinai Enoch led the Leopards with 22 points and the University of La Verne men's basketball took down the Chapman Panthers on the road 68-60.

McClain caught fire in the second half, making all four of his attempts from beyond the arc. Enoch scored 14 of his points in the second period and finished with six rebounds, two steals, and an assist to help the Leopards seal the win.

Jordan Allen had an outstanding all-around performance, notching his second double-double of the season. The junior finished with 16 points and a career-high 12 rebounds in the win.

Tied 56-56 with just over three minutes to play, the Leopards went on a 12-4 run highlighted by a three-pointer from Jarid Taylor and 9-10 shooting from the free-throw line. 

The Leopards got hot from deep in the second half, draining 7-9 three-point attempts. La Verne finished the game with 10 three-pointers, one short of their season-high total.

After heading into halftime up 27-25, the Leopards opened the second half with a 7-0 run with a pair of layups by Enoch and Allwnand a three-pointer from McClain.  

Seth Shaw made a big impact off the bench grabbing nine rebounds, including seven on the defensive end, a game-high four assists, and one steal.

Chapman was led by Colin Ferrier's 13 points and Chandler White's 12 points. 

The Leopards grab their first win of the season and move to 1-13 overall and 1-5 in the SCIAC. The Panthers fall to 11-4 overall and 3-3 in the SCIAC.

Next Game

The Leopards return home on Wednesday, January 22 when they host the Cal Lutheran Kingsmen at 7 p.m.
