Men's Basketball Falls Short Against UC Santa Cruz

LA VERNE, CA — Three Leopards finished in double figures and the University of La Verne men's basketball team went into half time with a three-point lead.

But UC Santa Cruz went on a late surge to pull ahead a 76-68 win.

Sinai Enoch led the Leopards with 14 points and three-three pointers. Jarid Taylor posted 10 points and four rebounds. 

Freshman Paul Antonis scored 10 points, grabbed three rebounds, dished out one assist, and added one steal. The rookie added the highlight of the game for La Verne when he sank a three-pointer with the clocking winding down in the half to give La Verne a 31-28 lead at the break.

Tyler Ridley looked sharp, finishing with eight points.

The Banana Slugs were led by Haakon Ullrich's 28 points.

La Verne moves to 2-18 overall and UC Santa Cruz improves to 10-13.

Next Game

The Leopards return to SCIAC play on Wednesday, February 12 when they travel to Thousand Oaks to take on the Cal Lutheran Kingsmen at 7 p.m.
