Poets Outlast Leopards

LA VERNE, CA — The Leopards started out strong but the University of La Verne's basketball team couldn't keep pace with Whittier, falling 93-74.

Sophomores Sinai Enoch and Isaiah Knox did their part to keep the Leopards in the game. Before closing out the first half, Knox stole the ball and quickly passed it to Enoch who landed a three-pointer. On the next drive, Enoch passed the ball to Knox for him to also land a 3-pointer. 

Enoch finished with 13 points, three assists, three rebounds, and one steal. Knox finished with 11 points, one assist, one steal, and five rebounds, four defensively. 

Freshman Paul Antonis had the most explosive sequence for the Leopards. in the second, he blocked back-to-back shots and finished on the other end with a three-pointer. Antonis finished with 10 points,  two steals, one assist, and four rebounds.

Tevin McClain finished with six rebounds, four assists, and eight points. Seth Shaw snatched three defensive rebounds, one assist, one steal, and finished with six points.  Junior Jarid Taylor grabbed three defensive rebounds, one assist, and scored 15 points. 

The Poets were led by Ahmad Young's 23 points and Nick Colosi's nine rebounds.  

Whitter moves to a 10-10 overall and 5-6 in SCIAC. La Verne falls to a 2-17 overall and 2-9 in SCIAC.

Next Game

The Leopards stay home to face UC Santa Cruz, Banana Slugs this upcoming Saturday, February 8 at 2 p.m.
