Slow Start Hurts Leopards

CLAREMONT, CA — John Malone II finished in double figures but the Leopards couldn't overcome a slow start, falling on the road to Claremont-Mudd-Scripps 83-54.

Malone II scored 10 points and grabbed three rebounds with one block. Trevor Andresen added nine points off three three-pointers to go with one assist, one steal, and one block.

Seth Shaw led the Leopards with seven rebounds; Paul Antonis score seven points.

CMS took a 47-17 lead at the end of the first half and La Verne couldn't recover. The Leopards outscored CMS 37-36 in the second half.

The Stags were led by Miles President's 14 points.

La Verne falls to 2-14 overall and 2-6 in the SCIAC. Claremont-Mudd-Scripps improves to 14-3 overall and 6-2 in conference play.

The Leopards travel Pomona-Pitzer on Wednesday, January 29 at 7 p.m.
