LA MIRADA, CA — Matthew Pedroza recorded three wins as the University of La Verne men's track and field team competed at NCAA Division II Biola Saturday afternoon.
Team Score: Biola 74, La Verne 51
Pedroza led the way for the Leopards with dominant individual performances. The junior picked up three wins, taking first in the shot put (14.02m), discus (38.04m), and weight throw (11.60m).
Andres Lemus took second in the discus (36.50m) and Subdue Ezinwa finished second in the weight throw (9.52m).
In the distance events, Matthew Salas added a win in the 1000 meter run, clocking in at 2:31.4.
Patrick Cornwell and Nathan Bradley went 1-2 in the 400m hurdles. Cornwell crossed with a time of 58.68 and Bradley followed at 1:00.09.
In the jumps, Theo Luu led the Leopards with a win in the triple jump with a leap of 11.41m.
Senior Hunter Powers took second in the long jump with a distance of 6.04m and added a second place finish in the 100m dash with a time of 11.65.
Quintus Alton finished second in the pole vault with a final height of 11-06. Jeffrey Ouk took third in the 400m coming in at 52.11.
Next Meet
The Leopards will compete down the road on Saturday, February 23 at the Claremont-Mudd-Scripps Rossi Relays.
