TK Berhe and Zachary Reid Talk About NCAA Championships Experience

Geneva, Ohio - University of La Verne track and field athletes Temesgen Kflom Berhe and Zachary Reid closed out the 2022 outdoor track season as a finalist in the 2022 NCAA Division III Outdoor Championships.

Competing on the national stage, both athletes were able to use their experience from competing at the highest level as a springboard towards preparation for next year's season. Zachary drew many positives from the championships. "My overall experience of competing for a national championship was very positive. I had a lot of fun with both TK and the coaching staff, the meet itself is very unique and provides new experiences because of the formality of the race staging as well as how and where you are allowed to go as even an athlete. I believe that moving forward this experience and memory of missing the national championship final will only propel me to the next level as I continue to strive to win my own individual national title both indoors and out."

TK Berhe spoke about the many things he learned that will benefit his career going forward. "The experience of competing at a national championship was different than any other race that I've ever run. For this whole season, I was trying to chase a time to make it here but I was so focused on getting there that I didn't realize that it was important to have another set of training that was needed for me to perform at the best of my ability. This experience has helped me out with my future in big competitive races by having more knowledge of the tactical styles of racing there is when competing at a national championship and the training/mindset needed beforehand to perform to the best of my ability.
