REDLANDS, CA – The University of La Verne Leopards looked to bounce back Saturday evening against the University of Redlands Bulldogs in a non-conference matchup on the road, but to no avail, as the Bulldogs defeated the Leopards 2-0.

The Bulldogs controlled possession for the majority of Saturday's matchup — rocketing off four shots in the first 15 minutes of the game. The last of those four shots found the net, giving the Leopards an early deficit which they never recovered from.

Freshman McKenzie Maggiore started and tended the goal for all 90 minutes of the game. The Bulldogs got off 24 shots on the Leopards' defense, but only connected on two — Maggiore collected seven saves on nine shots on goal.

On the offensive end of the field, La Verne was held at bay. The Leopards' attack was limited to eight shots and four on goal. Junior defender Danielle Bennet was a bright spot in the offense, firing off the most shots on the team, including one on goal.

Senior Rebecca Fischer, sophomore Valerie Vera, and sophomore Reagan Appleby were the other La Verne attackers to collect one shot on goal apiece.

Season Impact

The Leopards move to 0-2 to start the year and Redlands improve to 1-1.

Next Game

La Verne will look to get into the win column next Thursday, September 9 at Cal State San Marcos.
