The University of La Verne volleyball team posted a pair of wins on Friday, earning a five-set win over UC Santa Cruz prior to defeating Wesley in a 3-0 sweep on the first day of the Posada Royale Invitational in Thousand Oaks.

With the two victories, the Leopards improve to 5-1 overall on the young season, after tallying a 3-1 record at the Pacific Coast Classic Tournament last weekend.

In the opener, the Leopards had to rally from a 2-1 deficit against the Banana Slugs to prevail 25-17, 10-25, 14-25, 25-23, 15-4.  Later in the day, La Verne dispatched Wesley in three sets by scores of 25-13, 25-16, 25-16.

The Leopards conclude play at the Posada Royale Invitational tomorrow with matches against Trinity at 11:30 am and Pacific at 4 p.m.
