Leopard Offense Sizzles In Rout Of Whitman

An outright assault was unleashed by the University of La Verne offense resulting in a 21-3 rout of Whitman College Friday at the Arizona Desert Classic in Anthem, Ariz.

La Verne pounded out 27 hits against the Missionaries, scoring four runs in the second inning while plating six runs in each of the fifth and eighth innings.

Both Nick Bergara and George Hanna led the Leopard attack with four hits apiece, each going 4-for-6 on the day.  Hanna tallied two doubles and drove in six runs with Bergara scoring four runs and posting a pair of runs batted in.

Dylan Leong and Tim Ralston each went 3-for-4 at the plate, with Leong scoring three runs along with stealing two bases.  Ralston registered three runs batted in.  George Holland also finished with three hits in five at-bats with a pair of runs scored.

Four Leopard pitchers combined to hold Whitman to nine hits.  Starter Alex Garcia went 2 1/3 innings with three strikeouts before giving way to four relievers.

La Verne continues action at the Arizona Desert Classic on Saturday as it takes on its third straight Northwest Conference opponent in George Fox University.
