Leopards eliminated from SCIAC Tournament

ORANGE, CA — The University of La Verne baseball team fell in a pair of games on Saturday and were eliminated from the SCIAC Tournament.

The Leopards finish the season 30-13 overall and 16-8 overall.

Game One: No. 9 Chapman 4, La Verne 1

In Saturday's opener, the Leopards couldn't generate enough hits with runners in scoring position to overcome a 4-0 deficit.

Ryan Galan and Christopher Peres each finished with two hits. Christopher Ligot brought in the only run of the day for the Leopards when he singled in Adam Santa Cruz in the sixth inning.

Devon Burhans pitched eight innings, finishing with three strikeouts. 

Chapman was led by Tristan Kevitch's two RBI. Mason Collings picked up the win for the Panthers, pitching five and a third innings. 

Game Two: Cal Lutheran 5, La Verne 1

The Leopards fell into a 5-0 hole and couldn't recover, losing to the Kingsmen in the elimination game. 

Santa Cruz picked up the lone RBI in the game for the Leopards, doubling in Charlie Verrone in the sixth.

Ryan Galan, Christopher Peres, Verrone, and Santa Cruz each finished with a hit. 

The Kingsmen were led by Weston Clark's two hits and one RBI.
