No. 12 Men's Golf takes 2nd, Hussein takes 3rd at SCIAC No. 2

INDUSTRY, CA — Hisham Hussein took third individually and the No. 12 University of La Verne men's golf team finished second at SCIAC No. 2 hosted at Industry Hills Golf Club.

Season Impact

The Leopards have finished second at each of the first two SCIAC tournaments but move into first place overall in the SCIAC standings. The Leopards will take a one-stroke lead over Redlands and a five-stroke lead over Claremont-Mudd-Scripps heading into the SCIAC Championship in two weeks.

La Verne got off to a hot start in round one, shooting a combined 289 off 71s by both Hussein and Conner Davis to end the day with an eight-stroke lead.

Hussein shot a 76 on day two to end the tournament with a score of 147. Sophomore Pitiluk Phanomchai tied for six overall with a 151, shooting a 73 in round one and a 78 in round two.

Nathan Stepanski finished one stroke behind Pitliuk in a tie for eighth with rounds of 74 and 78. Davis ended in a tie for 12th with a total card of 153. 

Jason Brown and Connor Dunlop tied for 26th with scores of 159.

Claremont-Mudd-Scripps finished first with a score of 597 and the Stags' Ken Kong took first individually at 142.

Next Round

The Leopards will next compete in a dual against Chapman this Friday at Brookside Golf Course in Pasadena. The round will give the Leopards a chance to get a feel for the course they will use at the SCIAC Championship.
