Phanomchai moves to 2nd, ULV in 3rd after Day 2 of SCIACs

PASADENA, CA — Pitiluk Phanomchai moved five spots up the leaderboard and the No. 11 University of La Verne men's golf team ended day two of the SCIAC Men's Golf Championships in third place.

Phanomchai had an outstanding second day for the Leopards, moving up to second place overall. The sophomore finished the day with five birdies with three of them coming over the final four holes to end the day with a two-under 70. Phanomchai with a score of 141 trails tournament leader Mason Chiu from Claremont-Mudd-Scripps by seven strokes. Phanomchai finds himself in the final group for the second year in a row.

La Verne finished the day in third place with a total score of 586. No. 13 Claremont-Mudd-Scripps held on to first place, moving their total score to 579 and No. 8 Redlands moved into second place with a score of 584. The Leopards currently lead the field with 38 birdies.

Conner Davis stayed consistent in the standings, remaining in ninth place after two days of competition. The senior highlighted the day with an eagle on the 15th hole. Davis also added birdies on the third, sixth, and 11th holes to end the day with a four-over 74 to move his total score to 148.

Hisham Hussein moved up eight spots to tie for ninth place. Hussein finished the round with three birdies, ending the day with a 74 and a total card of 148.

Jason Brown finished the day with an 82 with birdies on the ninth and 11th holes. The junior sits in a tie for 24th with a total score of 154.

Freshman Connor Dunlop finished the day with a five-over 78. Dunlop had a great back nine, recording all four of his birdies during the stretch. The Canada native sits one stroke behind Brown in the standings in a tie for 26th.

Jake Littlejohn shot an 80 in round two with a pair of birdies, moving into a tie for 30th with a card of 156.

The Leopards will conclude the 2019 SCIAC Championships tomorrow morning. Littlejohn will tee off first for La Verne at 8:52 a.m.
