La Verne Competes in Bulldog Pentathlon

The University of La Verne swimming team competed in the Bulldog Pentathlon on Saturday at the Thompson Aquatic Center on the campus of the University of Redlands.  The Leopards were up against perennial SCIAC contenders Claremont-Mudd-Scripps, Pomona-Pitzer, and host Redlands.  The event saw races in the 100 butterfly, 100 backstroke, 100 breaststroke, 100 freestyle, and the culminating 100 individual medley.  Every swimmer participates in each of the 5 events with the winner being determined by least amount of cumulative time.  La Verne placed swimmers 4 swimmers in the top 10 on Saturday.

Marc Okimura solidfied his standing as a perennial contender in the 100 breaststroke (58.99), placing atop all men's swimmer for the third straight year.  Teammates Cody Yeo (1:00.69), and Coleman Goode (1:01.72) joined Okimura in the top 10, finishing 4th and 5th respectively.  Goode also earned himself a 5th place (55.46) finish in the 100 backstroke and a 4th place finish in the 100 individual medley (55.75) following by Okimura in 8th place (56.28). Maddie Lovrensky garnered a 2nd place finish in the 100 backstroke (1:00.10), 5th place finish in the 100 freestyle (55.85), and a 8th place finish in the 100 individual medley (1:04.47).  Sammi Shiomoto secured a 7th place finish in the 100 butterfly for the La Verne women's swim squad.  

La Verne Swim & Dive will next compete on November 17th when Leo divers compete in the Bulldog Dive Invitational.
