Junior Marc Okimura represented the University of La Verne on the second day of action at the NCAA Swimming & Diving Championships, posting a time of 52.91 in the men's 100 yard butterfly during prelims on Thursday.

Okimura was unable to advance to the final but closed in on the 11-year old La Verne school record of 52.40 held by Matt Frenken established in 2002.

Action continues Friday at the NCAA Championships, where both Okimura and Lovrensky begin competing in their specialty events.  Okimura will compete in the 100 yard breaststroke with Lovrensky competing in the 100 yard backstroke in preliminary heats beginning at 8:00 am PDT.
