University of La Verne sophomore Madeline Lovrensky completed the backstroke double by winning the women's 200-yard backstroke to highlight Day 3 action for the Leopard swim & dive squad Tuesday in La Mirada.
The team competition resulted in the Leopard men finishing seventh with a total of 215 points while the women placed eighth with 156 total points.
After leading wire-to-wire, Lovrensky reset her own school record in the 200 back on her way to an NCAA "B" time of 2:04.24, which placed her at the top of the podium for the Leopards as the defending champion.
Lovrensky earns the 100-200 back double at the SCIAC Championships for the second consecutive year, giving her four conference individual titles.
After finishing as the runner-up in the men's 100-yard breaststroke on Monday, junior Marc Okimura repeated this effort in the 200 breast, earning an NCAA "B" time of 2:03.52 in the process. Okimura finished behind Occidental's Steven VanDeventer, who posted an NCAA "A" mark of 2:02.09 for the title.
Additionally on the men's side, Devon Photias finished 12th overall in the 100-yard freestyle with a clocking of 47.57.
The Leopard quartet of Alex Bertrol Navarro, Homer Aguilar, Michael Rashed and Felipe Avendano placed seventh in a time of 3:16.88.
Among the Leopard women, junior Sammy Shiomoto set a personal best in the 200-yard butterfly, racing to a 12th place finish and a time of 2:12.10. Senior Nicole Carlton posted a personal best in the 1650-yard freestyle, finishing in 18:24.74 to place 13th overall.
The 400-yard freestyle relay team of Carlton, Shiomoto, Crystal Antuna and Brandelyn Storms placed eighth in a time of 3:50.94.
