Tittl and MacKay Advance to SCIAC Championships

University of La Verne divers competed in the preliminary rounds of the 2013 Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) Championships Saturday and Sunday afternoon at the Rose Bowl Aquatics Center in Pasadena.  Qualifying divers advance to the SCIAC Swimming & Diving Championship to be held February 17-19 at Splash! La Mirada.  

A pair of Leopard divers registered strong performances to earn qualification for both the 1 meter and 3 meter diving competitions at next weekend's conference championship meet.

Jacob Tittl enjoyed a very successful opening day of the men's competition capturing a second place overall finish in the the 1 meter diving event with a cumulative score of 389.61.  Scott MacKay rounded out the top five with an equally impressive 313.47.  Senior Daniel Sillas had a 11th place finish with a score of 121.17.

Day 2 of the prelims on Sunday saw both MacKay and Tittl record impressive scores of 329.25 and 315.05, respectively, to place third and fourth in the 3 meter competition.  Sillas placed 12th overall with a score of 109.55.

"We are sitting in a good position for next week" said dive coach Jim Luci, "We are diving strong and everything is coming together."

Tittl and MacKay will compete once again at the SCIAC Championships February 17-19 in La Mirada.
