La Verne Swim and Dive Finds Success on Day 3 of Finis Invite

Members of the La Verne swim team enjoyed a very succesful and provductive weekend at the Finis Invite.  Day 3 of competition was highlighted by a trio of first place finishes in the men's and women's 200 backstroke, and the women's 400 relay.

The formidable combination of Jaycee Hallford, Sammi Shiomoto, Nicole Carlton and Maddie Lovrensky proved succesful once again as the quartet secured a first place finish in the 400 free relay in a staggering 3:45.69.  Each member of the 400 relay team found individuals success as well.  

Hallford captured a 4th place finish in the 100 free with a time of 56.98 as did Nicole Carlton in the 500 free with a time of 5:28.07.  Shiomoto was shy of a first place finish in the 200 fly when she swam a 2:16.02.  Lovrensky continued her domination of the 200 backstroke with a time of 2:07.36.

The men's front also saw success on Day 3 of the Finis Invite.  Coleman Goode swam towards a first place finish in the 200 backstroke with a time of 1:58.36.  Cody Yeo secured a 2nd place finish in the 500 free with a swift 4:58.10.  Devon Photias and Felipe Villa also had 2nd place finishes as Photias recorded a 49.12 in the 100 free and Villa recorded a 2:06.34 in the 200 fly.  The men's 400 freestyle relay put forth a solid effort in their event with a time 3:16.42.

"Our team stepped up, swam fast and came together" said head coach Pat Skehan.  "We are swimming faster than we did in SCIAC last year and it is only December".

The Leopards return to action on Saturday, December 8 as they take on Cal Lutheran in SCIAC action. The meet will begin at 11:00 am.
