De Leon Makes Final on Day 3 of SCIACs

COMMERCE, CA — Lorenzo De Leon led the University of La Verne swim teams on day three of the SCIAC Swim and Dive Championships.

De Leon made his way to the final of the 100-yard backstroke and posted a personal-best time of 52.79 to finish in ninth place.

Alondra Camacho added season-best finish in the consolation finals taking sixth in the 100-yard backstroke clocking in at 1:00.89, just shy of her lifetime best mark.

Jessica Argelander made the consolation finals of the 100 butterfly and posted a time of 1:00.20 to tie for eighth place in that section.

Isabelle Cheng earned a spot in the 100 breaststroke consolation final finishing in seventh with a time of 1:14.62

The men's 400 medley relay team of De Leon, Brian McAteer, Cristian Gonzales, and Trevor Ichiki took eighth with a final time of 3:35.79.

The women's 400 medley relay finishing in ninth place with the squad of Camacho, Cheng, Carli Willis, and Argelander posting a time of 4:16.17.

After three days of competition, Claremont-Mudd-Scripps leads the team competition in both the men's and women's standings. The La Verne me's and women's team both sit in ninth.

The Leopards conclude the SCIAC Championships tomorrow.
