Leopards Close Out SCIAC Championships

COMMERCE, CA — Jessica Argelander add a big highlight and the University of La Verne swim and dive teams closed out the 2020 season at the SCIAC Championships.

Argelander closed out her collegiate career on a high note. The senior broke her own record in the 100 yard freestyle clocking in with a new La Verne best time of 52.70 to take seventh in the race. Argelander previously set the record at 52.74 at the Collegiate Winter Invite earlier this season.

Lorenzo De Leon posted a sixth place finish in the 200 backstroke consolation final with a personal-best time of 1:55.03. In the women's section of the race, Alondra Camacho took fourth in the consolation final touching at a season-best 2:09.93.

Brian McAteer made his way into the consolation final of the 200 breaststroke and took fifth place at 2:11.60, a new personal record time.

Isabelle Cheng took ninth in the consolation final of the 200 breaststroke finishing with a time of 2:47.42.

In the consolation final of the 200 butterfly, Carli Willis took fifth touching at a new personal best time of 2:20.02.

Both the Leopards men's and women's team finished the championships in ninth place. Claremont-Mudd-Scripps came away with the SCIAC Championship on both the men's and women's side.
