LA VERNE, CA — The University of La Verne women's water polo team finished strong on Saturday, scoring four goals in the final quarter to beat the Redlands Bulldogs 8-4.
Season Impact
The Leopards are on a roll in conference action. The Leopards have won their last four SCIAC games and take control of the fourth spot in the conference. Heading into Saturday's game the Leopards led the Bulldogs in the standings by half a game.
La Verne improves to 7-11 overall and 5-3 in SCIAC action. Redlands drops to 11-14 overall and 4-5 in conference play.

"Our team had confidence in the game plan and they executed it brilliantly," said head coach Pat Beemer.
Stat Leaders
Jassmine Kezman led La Verne with four goals and an assist. Shelby Garcia was huge in the cage, grabbing seven saves with three steals.
Guarina Garcia had a big game defensively, notching a career-high seven steals. Garcia also contributed offensively, scoring once and dishing out two assists.
Ilene Guerrero scored twice for the Leopards and added one assist and one steal. Sage Nowell also scored once.
Victoria Mezack finished with two steals and an assist.
How it Happened
Heading into the fourth quarter up one, the Leopards took control early in the period with Guerrero connecting with Kezman to give the Leopards a two-goal cushion.
Two minutes later Nowell added another goal and followed it up with just over three minutes remaining with an assist to Kezman to extend the lead to 7-3.
Next Game
The Leopards have an important match-up next Wednesday when they travel to face third place Whittier at 7 p.m.
