ST. PAUL — The La Verne Leopards opened the Macalaster Invitational Tournament strong with back-to-back wins over Carthage and Augustana — 20-4 and 15-11 — on Saturday, Feb. 19.

Day 1

La Verne was led by Jassmine Kezman, who connected on all four of her shots in the first win over Carthage.

In the win, the Leopards did not miss a single shot. They scored on all 20 shot attempts. Carthage, however, wasn't so lucky as the Leo goalie, Kate Carlyle and the rest of the La Verne defense held Carthage to just four total scores.

Around the pool, 14 different Leos found themselves with goals. There were three Leopards with more than one goal — Kezman, Sumi Rudisky, who finished with three, and Sona Aghasaryan, with two scores.

The wins put the Leos at 2-2 on the season.

La Verne, now ranked sixth in the nation, will play today against the host, Macalester, and Wittenberg.
