Leopards Victorious Over Occidental College And The University Of Redlands

La Verne, California - The University of La Verne women's water polo team took advantage of a day full of opportunity to not only better themselves as a team but to also add more wins to the victory column. The Leopards opened the day playing on the road at Occidental College. The early morning contest would be the first of two contests for the Leopards on the day. Taking control of the game early, the Leopards finished the first period of play leading Occidental by a score of 3-2. Jassmine Kezman scored the first two goals of the game for the Leopards and Abby Nunez scored the third goal of the opening period. The momentum of the Leopards' first period of play carried them as they would only allow four more goals to be scored by Occidental, finishing with a 14-6 victory over the Tigers. Jassmine Kezman and Abby Nunez both led the Leopards with four goals apiece, Bianca Sanchez and Dani D'Andrea both scored two goals, and Nancy Trinh and Sage Nowell added one goal apiece. Kate Carlyle had nine saves in the contest.

The second contest of the day the Leopards would welcome the University of Redlands to the La Verne Aquatics Center. The Leopards took control of the contest from the onset, leading 4-2 at the end of the first period of play. Scoring three goals in the second quarter of play, the Leopards would go into halftime with a 7-5 lead. Both teams would score four goals apiece in the second half but the Leopards would prevail with an 11-9 victory of Redlands. Dani D'Andrea led the Leopards with four goals, while Jassmine Kezman added three goals. Nancy Trinh and Kelly Reidel each contributed one goal. Bianca Sanchez led the Leopards with two steals and Kate Carlyle had seven saves in the game.

The Leopards will take on Pomona-Pitzer in a home contest today at the La Verne Aquatics Center at 4:00 pm
