La Verne, California - The University of La Verne women's water polo team welcomed the Pomona-Pitzer Sagehens to the La Verne Aquatics Center for an afternoon conference contest. The Leopards entered the game with a 10-4 record, looking to build off of Saturday's victories over Occidental College and the University of Redlands. The Leopards scored the first goal of the game, as Jassmine Kezman found the nets fifty-eight seconds into the game, giving La Verne an early 1-0 lead. Dani D'Andrea, Nancy Trinh, Jassmine Kezman and Sumi Rudisky would score goals for the Leopards in the first half, helping close the gap at halftime by a score of 8-5. The Leopards put up a valiant effort defending the goal in the second half of action while scoring four goals but would fall short to Pomona-Pitzer by a final score of 14-9. Kate Carlyle had six saves on the day while Dani D'Andrea and Nanea Mattson each had two steals for the Leopards.
The Leopards return to action on Wednesday at home against Bucknell University. The game starts at 1:00 pm
