Leopards Win Big At CalTech

Pasadena, California - The University of La Verne women's water polo team took on the CalTech Beavers in an evening road contest today in Pasadena, California. This SCIAC matchup provided the Leopards with another opportunity to fine-tune their play as they approach the final weeks of conference play. The Leopards started the game focused on establishing themselves early with their play offensively and defensively. The Leopards would score the first goal of the game as Sona Aghasaryan would score early off of an assist from Dani D'Andrea. The Leopards would score three more goals in the opening quarter of play while only allowing one goal, giving them a 4-1 lead at the end of the first quarter. Alyssa Ono, coming off of an injury, scored a goal in the opening period of play for the Leopards. La Verne shut out CalTech in the second quarter of play while scoring two more goals, to lead by a score of 6-1 at the intermission. The Leopards exploded for eight goals in the third quarter while continuing to lock down the net defensively, only allowing CalTech to score one goal. The Leopards would close out the game only allowing three more goals from the Beavers, winning by a final score of 15-5. Nine different Leopards scored in the victory ( Dani D'Andrea (4), Bianca Sanchez (3), Sumi Rudisky (2), Lauren Holcomb (1), Nancy Trinh (1), Sona Aghasaryan (1), Porsche Double (1), Sam Sanchez (1), Alyssa Ono (1). Kate Carlyle had ten saves in the victory.

The Leopards will host Cal Lutheran on Senior Day at the La Verne Aquatics Center at 4:00 pm on April 13th.
