Story by Cyanna Rosa

LA VERNE, CA-The University of La Verne women's soccer team sailed past the Whitworth Pirates on Thursday night with a final score of 3-0.

In their official home opening game, the Leopards kept the crowd on their feet with 9 goal attempts in the first half, and left them waiting on the edge of their seats when they went into the locker room at hallftime with the scoreboard showing 0-0.

The fans anticipation was well rewarded, and the Leopards did not disappoint. Of the 14 shot attempts, 3 found the back of the net.

Our goal scorers of the night were Ana Preciado, Antonia Escobar, and Michelle Benavides, all unassisted. Sophomores, Preciado and Escobar, scored on the Pirates keeper, Nelson; while Senior, Benavides, scored only 10 minutes after Broadwick subbed in. Leopard keeper, McKenzie Maggiore, had a slow but strong game, saving a the three Pirates shots.

With their next 6 games at home, the forecast for the women's soccer team is bright.
