LA VERNE, CA - To beat the California heat wave going on at the moment, the La Verne women's soccer team played their contest against the Knights of Carleton University at 9 AM this morning.
The first half ended with a well executed penalty kick awarded to the Knights at 41:43 on the clock that put Carleton up 1-0.
"I asked the team two questions in the locker room," said Coach Pehanich. "Who are we? And who do we want to be?"
The team decided they are strong minded competitors.
The Leopards roared back with three goals in the second half. Sophomore Alyssa Moran was tasked to execute two PK's at the 50:06 and 59:28 mark. Both found their way to the back of the net.
At 68:11 the win was sealed for La Verne by a rocket of a shot from Sophomore Brooklyn Daley.
The Leopards enter the week 3-0, and will next see action at home on Friday, September 9th, when they take on the Bearcats of Willamette at 7pm in Ortmayer Stadium.
