INDIANAPOLIS — Lenore Moreno isn't done yet.

The West Covina native and two-time national champion is among a distinguished group of female athletes up for the 2014 NCAA Woman of the Year Award, the NCAA announced.  

The Woman of the Year award honors graduating female student-athletes who have distinguished themselves throughout their collegiate careers in academics, athletics, service and leadership.

NCAA colleges and universities nominated 446 female student-athletes for the 2014 NCAA Woman of the Year award. Of the nominees, 205 competed in Division I, 75 competed in Division II, and 166 competed in Division III athletics.

Moreno won the 5,000 meters at the 2014 NCAA Indoor Track and Field National Championships with a meet record time of 16 minutes, 32.85 seconds in March and claimed the 10,000 meters at the 2014 outdoor championships with a time of 34:25.39 in May. In addition, she earned the 2014 U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association West Region Indoor and Outdoor Track Athlete of the Year honors and was named the 2014 SCIAC Female Track Athlete of the Year. In 2012, Moreno became the first cross country All-American in La Verne history and was named the 2012 USTFCCCA West Region Cross Country Female Athlete of the Year.

Moreno received her bachelor's degree in Movement and Sports Science in 2013 and is currently pursuing her teaching credential. She was also named a La Verne Scholar-Athlete (awarded to student athletes with GPA of 3.5 or above) in 2013 and 2014.

In addition to her work on the tracks and in the classroom, Moreno has been actively involved in the community. In 2012, she served at a homeless shelter in Upland and served as a volunteer with an adapted physical education specialist at Grace Miller Elementary School in 2013.

Each conference selects up to two women from the nominees to represent the conference. Lauren Rohach of Cal Lutheran is the other representative from the SCIAC.

The Woman of the Year selection committee selects the top 30 honorees -- 10 from each division -- from the conference nominees. From those 30 candidates, the selection committee determines the top three in each division and announces the top nine finalists in September. The NCAA Committee on Women's Athletics will then vote from among the finalists to determine the 2014 NCAA Woman of the Year.

The top 30 honorees will be honored, and the 2014 NCAA Woman of the Year winner will be announced, at the annual ceremony in Indianapolis on Sunday, Oct. 19.
