La Verne, CA- The University of La Verne men's soccer team awarded their seniors with a celebratory opening for their last home game at Ortmayer Stadium. Seniors Jonathan Ortiz, Owen Osagiede, Jacob Corona, Christian Ibarra, and Christian Rios were joined on the field with their families for senior night honors to cap their Leopard career.
The Leopards held possession for the majority of the first half with ten consecutive attempted plays to the net. The two rivals went thirty-six minutes without a score for the first half, until a faked right shot from Senior Leo, Owen Osagiede landed the ball at the feet of Leopard, Matt Moreno for the first goal of the game.
Leopard's Goalie, Hector Duenas-Pena started off the game with two saves in the first half and continued with four in the second.
Maintaining the ball, sophomore Leopard, Angel Loza, continued to steal possession from the Beavers for another heavy Leopard offensive half. With just over two minutes left in the second half, the Beavers tied the game and seventy-two seconds later, scored for the winning point, defeating the Leopard by a final score of 2-1.
Hector Duenas-Pena had six saves in the contest.
